In 1972, Mr. Lorenzo Maltese opened Lorenzo’s Pizzeria on Main St in Sussex, NJ. David Case began working there as a teenager in 1993. When “Mr. Lorenzo,” as everyone called him, retired in 2010, David and his wife Laurie purchased the business and retained the name that everyone had come to know.
Many of Lorenzo’s Pizza recipes have not changed since the doors first opened, though David and Laurie have expanded the menu quite a bit.
When you walk into Lorenzo’s, you will notice a family-friendly atmosphere, a staff comprised of many of David and Laurie’s family members—many of whom have been with the business for a long time, and everyone will know your name.
Pizza Place & Italian Specialities in Sussex, NJ
Lorenzo’s Pizzeria has several signature dishes. The lasagna is based on an original recipe from 1972. James the Pizza Man learned how to make pizza from Mr. Lorenzo himself; and David’s meatballs and cheese steaks are a big hit. Their belief is that you start with great ingredients: fresh produce, local meats, and freshly shredded cheese.
Lorenzo’s philosophy is to connect with their community. They sponsor several local teams, donate to tricky trays, and once a month they donate 10% of their profits to a local nonprofit organization.
